When Local SIM Might Be Better
Extended stays over one month. You need a local phone number for SMS verification. Countries with unreliable eSIM support. Ultra-budget travel where a local SIM costs $2-5 for 30GB.
The Hybrid Approach
Use eSIM as default, buy local SIM only for stays over a month or when you specifically need a local number. With dual SIM you can run both simultaneously.
